    Welcome to the most unique club in town!!  Rochester Deaf Rotary (RDR) is the FIRST Deaf Rotary Club in the world to be run by the deaf for deaf. RDR was formally chartered and announced by rotary International at its 100th anniversary during its Family Fun Day in Canandaigua, New York on June 22, 2004. We are very excited to be here!  Our district has a website, www.rotary7120.org.

 

The Rochester Deaf Rotary, Inc.

   is a not- for- profit organization whose purposed in part are to promate and foster international understanding, service to others within the community and world wide and also to promate high ethical standards of business and professional conduct.

The Mission Statement

   "This organization exists to promote the life, welfare, and education of deaf and hard of hearing people of all ages through direct service, as well as to advance deaf awareness within our counity, and around the world as opportunties arise."

 

   Who can join?  Anyone!  Deaf, hard of hearing, interpreters, audiologists, anybody else with connection to the deaf culture, even hearing folks.  Sign language is spoken in all of our meetings.  It does not matter if you are fluent or not, you can always learn if you have the desire.  If you wish to make an inquiry or have questions about membership, please contact our Membership Chair, Karen Beiter at pres-elect@deafrotary.org.

 

   We have many Rotarians in our club with diverse backgrounds.  Come to one of our dinner meetings, see us at our fundraisers and community service projects, or you can talk to anyone of us to find out more about the club.
